Ingredients

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • Red peppermint candies crushed (Topping)

Instructions

  • Line an 8x8 baking dish with aluminum foil, making sure the foil extends beyond the edges for easy removal later. Lightly spray the foil with cooking spray and set it aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.

  • Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly into all corners. Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the top while the fudge is still warm, pressing them gently into the surface so they stick.

  • Let the fudge cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate it for about three hours or until fully set. When it’s firm, lift the fudge out of the pan using the foil edges, peel off the foil, and slice it into small squares to serve.
  • Cut into small squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use good-quality chocolate: High-quality chocolate chips give your fudge a rich, smooth texture. It’s worth the extra cost!
  • Melt low and slow: Keeping the heat low prevents scorching and ensures the chocolate stays smooth. Stir constantly to avoid lumps.
  • Foil is your friend: Lining the pan with foil makes it much easier to remove and cut the fudge without a mess.
  • Add your flair: You can swap out crushed peppermint candies for festive sprinkles, white chocolate shavings, or even crushed Oreos for a fun twist.
  • Let it set fully: Be patient and give the fudge enough time to firm up in the fridge before slicing. This prevents a sticky mess.
  • Cut cleanly: Run your knife under hot water, dry it, and use it to make clean cuts. Repeat as needed for neat squares.
  • Perfect for gifting: Wrap individual squares in wax paper or place them in decorative tins or gift bags for a sweet homemade gift.
