Pre-cooked sausage works too: If you're short on time, use pre-cooked sausage to skip a step.
Sausage swaps: Ground beef, turkey, or even crispy bacon are great substitutes. Veggie sausage also works for a meat-free version.
Customize the mix-ins: Add bell peppers, mushrooms, or green onions to the egg mixture for extra flavor and texture.
Cheeses: Feel free to swap Monterey Jack and cheddar for your favorites, like mozzarella or pepper jack.
Check doneness: The casserole is ready when the eggs are set, and the top is golden brown. If needed, add a few extra minutes in the air fryer.
Make ahead: You can assemble it the night before and store it in the fridge. In the morning, pop it in the air fryer and bake as directed.
Storage and Reheating Instructions
Fridge: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Freeze: For longer storage, wrap individual portions tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
Reheat: To reheat, pop a slice in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or back in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring back some crispiness.
